The race

Let me describe one common scenario "The race".
Two persons A and B are running on parallel and straight tracks in a 5 day race. A person is considered as successful at any stage if he is ahead of other. A started with a point 200 km ahead of the point from which B had started. In other words, A had head start of 200 Km. A travelled with 20km/h and B travelled with 15 km/h for first day. Next day, A travelled with 20km/h and B increased its speed to 20km/h. On the third day, B further increased its speed to 25km/h while A travelled at same speed 20km/hr. Who is ahead at the end of 3rd day? Obviously A is ahead by 2000km as he was already having a head-start of 2000km. even though B has outperformed A on day 3, he hasn't won the game. Wait! Game is not yet over. However, B can take two decisions at this stage:
a) Even though he is trying harder than A, he is still behind A and hence he should give up.
b) He should give tougher fight to win as he has travelled more on day 3. Moreover, he has overcome the maximum speed of A.
If I will ask you, which way should B be thinking? You will probably answer second one is better. Because you know it is a 5 day event and things might change in last two days. For B, it is hard to accept the fact that he is behind even after trying harder. he might not have enough courage at this stage to believe in himself that he can win. In real life, I have seen people like B choosing path a.

Logically in a long race game, B must be choosing path b even though the probability of winning the race is too low.  Do we always choose path b despite of low probability of success?
In the case mentioned above I have taken example of a long race(5 day race) because shorter races(1 hour race) could not be analogous to Life as "Life is a marathon, not a sprint ".
The above story was an attempt to explain one simple belief “The Game is not yet over because I have not won yet". In case, you are true follower of this belief this story will strengthen your belief.  If you don't believe it, start believing this. It is really helpful.
P.S. If we add one more rule in the game that players can take rest, this particular game might resemble the well-known fable "rabbit and turtle story". The main thing is that this scenario is little bit complex than that. I have knowingly made this game little bit complex.
When I was kid, I was not convinced by rabbit and turtle story. In my opinion rabbit should have won. But now I think in almost opposite way.
