Blended Learning :The future of learning

According to Wikipedia, "Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace."

These models of learning is used by both job market and academia. There are various models such as flex, Rotation, Self-Blend, enriched virtual model, la carte model etc. Three major models are discussed below.

Flex Model

In this model most of the instructions are online.Teachers provide assistance in-person only if there is need of assistance. The schedule of classes is decided by students and face-to-face interaction is minimal in this model.

Rotation Model

In this model mode of instructions (online & onsite) are rotated on a routine basis. This rotation schedule is generally decided by teachers. Students mostly learn at traditional schools with brick and mortar structure.

Self-Blend Model

In this model students themselves choose to take online courses which helps them in supplementing their formal school education. They take classes beyond what is offered at school. In my opinion, it is modern style of self-study. This model will be helpful for motivated students.

In current scenario, The models such as flex model, rotation model may cause problems in accreditation by CBSE, ICSE, or other state boards. so, India can make use of self-blend model, which will not create any problem in accreditation.

In future, Boards of education such as CBSE, ICSE should allow colleges to opt for these technology-based models.
